Like all of Pampeano's dog accessories, the Petalo pink and navy dog lead has been hand-crafted in South America by Pampeano's highly skilled artisans who have practiced this native and iconic design for generations. The finest Argentine leather is first hand-selected for its perfect quality and thick, strong structure. It is then vegetable-tanned to produce its buttery handle and rich, Havana brown colour. The leather is then cut to length with the edges sheared and hand-painted for a beautiful finish. Next, the iconic pampa diamonds are hand-pressed into the leather to cut the shapes ready to be stitched. A single artisan continues by intricately hand-weaving the vibrant patterns into the leather using strong, wax-dipped saddlery threads. This signature thread, originally used on Pampeano's polo equipment has been dyed into a kaleidoscope of colours, and is coated in wax to ensure that it is easy to clean, glides through the leather and does not rip or fray.

Made to last a lifetime, the Petalo dog lead is here to last through a lifetime of country dog walks. The Petalo leather dog lead measures 115cm long as standard, and 2.5cm wide.

Care Instructions

Like all luxury leather goods, this is a natural product so Pampeano have included some care instructions on how to maintain the lustre of your Pampeano polo dog lead.

Maintaining the leather

To maintain the richness of the leather, you should nourish it with a good leather conditioner every so often. Apply a small amount onto a dry cloth and rub into the leather. Use a separate cloth to buff it until all of the conditioner has been absorbed.

As with all leather goods, try and keep your polo dog lead dry. If it does get wet, just blot with a towel as soon as possible and let it air dry. Do not machine wash.

Maintaining the thread

The vibrant hand-stitched pampa patterns on their polo dog leads consist of high density waxed saddlery threads, meaning they are robust and easy to clean.

Just use soapy water and a non-coloured sponge to scrub the threads in the direction of the stitching (across the width of the dog lead and not the length). Use a damp cloth to remove any excess soap, and towel dry as soon as possible.

Snagged a thread? Because of the sport from which Pampeano's polo dog leads originated, they are made to be durable and hardwearing. In the unlikely event that a thread has come loose, simply tuck the end back under the threads next to it and fix in place using a little superglue. Make sure you tuck it in on the back of the dog lead and repair will be undetectable.
